Ph.D. Openings

Research Areas:

Energy systems, and/or interconnected infrastructure systems

Skills and interest in quantitative modeling of energy systems, and/or interconnected infrastructure systems. Knowledge of energy markets is also useful. A background in electrical engineering, industrial engineering, applied mathematics, or operations research is recommended. Skill and interest in data science, data-driven decision-making, automatic control, energy systems engineering, circular economy, life cycle assessment, and quantum computing. Transportation and other urban infrastructure system

Looking for students that are interested in studying both the theoretical aspects of the underlying problems and the practical challenges of implementing this theory in a real-world system. Students with strong quantitative (optimization/algorithms) and computational skills and interested in problems relating to urban mobility are recommended.

Optimization, machine learning, and power system and market operations

Skill and interest in power and energy systems, transportation systems, and IoT applications. This fully funded position will draw tools from optimization, data analytics/machine learning, economics to tackle challenges in interdisciplinary areas of research.
