Biography

Shiyu Yang is an Ezra Systems Postdoctoral Associate with Cornell’s Systems Engineering Program. His research expertise is in intelligent algorithms, e.g., model predictive control, machine learning, demand-flexible energy management, data-driven approaches, and their applications in smart energy systems, e.g., building energy systems, renewables, thermal & electric energy storage, and electric vehicle for higher energy efficiency and reduced environment impacts.

Prior to joining Cornell in 2021, he was a research fellow with the Energy Research Institute, Nanyang Technological University. In 2020, he obtained a Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from Nanyang Technological University, where his research focused on smart building control with model predictive control and machine learning techniques. He obtained a master's and a bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering from Beihang University in 2016 and 2013, respectively.
